The Coptic Calendar
The Coptic calendar is based on the ancient Egyptian calendar and is used by the Coptic Orthodox Church for its liturgical readings and determination and commemoration of dates for fasts and feasts. The calendar has 13 months, 12 months of 30 days each and one month of 5-6 days, depending on whether the year is a leap year or not. The Coptic year starts on 11th September in the Gregorian Calendar or on the 12th in the year before (Gregorian) leap years. The Coptic leap year follows the same rules as the Gregorian, so that the extra month always has 6 days in the year before a Gregorian leap year

The Divine Liturgy
Our belief
The Church strongly believes that when a liturgy is being performed the altar becomes Heaven and according to the Church a few people have been blessed to see what is really happening in the altar and they can see the altar full of Angels, Martyrs and Saints. The Holy Liturgy officially starts the night before at the evening raising of incense. The Liturgy usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours, it is split to several sections
The Liturgy Readings
First a reading from one of Paul’s Epistles, a reading from an Epistle other than St. Paul, a reading from the Book of Acts, a reading from the Synaxarium (biography of Saints) then a reading from the Gospel. The readings of the Epistles and Acts are read normally but the Gospel is read in a special tune. Straight after the readings a sermon is said about the Gospel
